Enrichment Pathway

Our Vision

The Enrichment Pathway provides a semi-formal curriculum that develops communication, early literacy, numeracy and independence through meaningful and practical learning experiences.

The pathway supports learners to build skills, confidence and independence while celebrating progress from individual starting points.

Curriculum Priorities

Learning focuses upon developing:

• language and communication;
• literacy;
• early and functional mathematics;
• curiosity;
• functional independence;
• social interaction;
• creativity; and
• emotional wellbeing.

How Learning Is Delivered

Learners benefit from a structured but highly accessible curriculum.

Teaching may include:

• thematic learning;
• practical activities;
• structured teaching;
• small-group learning;
• outdoor learning;
• communication-rich teaching;
• modelling;
• repetition and overlearning; and
• opportunities to apply skills in meaningful contexts.

Classrooms use visual supports, accessible resources, structured work areas, practical learning opportunities and sensory regulation strategies to enable learners to access education successfully.

Additional Provision

Where assessment identifies a need, learners may access additional approaches or interventions such as:

• Colourful Semantics;
• Blank Levels;
• Attention Autism or Bucket Time approaches;
• Precision Teaching;
• structured early reading;
• Numicon;
• Lexia;
• Talkabout;
• social stories; and
• communication groups.

Provision is selected according to identified need rather than diagnosis alone.

Enrichment Pathway Timetable Key Stage 2/3

Qualifications

Depending upon individual pathways and assessment, learners may work towards qualifications including:

• Entry Level qualifications;
• AQA / OCR Unit Awards;
• vocational accreditation; and
• other nationally recognised accreditation appropriate to learners' next steps.

Learners also have opportunities to experience employer engagement, careers education and work-related learning.

In Key Stage 4, students on the Enrichment Pathway will work towards Entry Level and Unit Awards qualifications selected to support them in their next steps and, in the long term, in readiness for adulthood. They will have opportunities to gain nationally recognised qualifications in English, Maths and Science as well as the Marshfields Baccalaureate and a single Options Choice.

The Marshfields Baccalaureate comprises a bespoke package of OCR Unit Awards focused on Life Skills offering a diverse range of topics in line with the National Curriculum standard offer, adapted to the cognitive levels of the students to ensure accessibility and continuing to promote progress and high aspirations.

Assessment

Assessment may include:

• teacher assessment;
• pathway assessment;
• literacy and numeracy assessment;
• Star assessments where appropriate;
• Lexia assessment information;
• EHCP outcome monitoring; and
• Preparation for Adulthood outcomes.

Preparing for Adulthood

Learners develop the foundations for adult life throughout the curriculum.

This includes increasing independence, communication, decision-making, self-help skills, confidence and understanding of their wider community.
