Welcome to the Science Department at Marshfields
All students at Marshfields study science. The school has a well equipped science lab and a classroom designated for the teaching of science. The subject has strong links with the IT department.
Science has a unique contribution that it brings to the curriculum, developing responsible attitudes towards safety, helping build natural curiosity, encouraging understanding and respect for living things and their environment. There are many opportunities to develop language, through speaking and listening and students are encouraged to be thoughtful and methodical.
Students are given every opportunity to achieve in science, using a variety of teaching methods, careful planning, monitoring and assessment, and by encouraging them to think and try things for themselves. The OCR Entry Level Science Plus course is followed in Key Stage 4 in order for as many students as possible to leave Marshfields with a nationally accredited certificate.
