DT - Year 7 Projects
Design Technology lessons exist to enable young people to not only learn practical skills with a range of materials, tools and processes but also to develop their problem solving skills and give them opportunities to apply these skills in their work throughout the school. As a technology school we concentrate on showing students how their learning applies across the subjects. This is mainly within DT, Food and Textiles, Maths and Science but cross-curricular links occur across the school.
In year 7 students will work with a range of tools and materials to produce:
- An animal sculpture using a variety of hand and power tools as well as the laser cutter to create a high quality item.
- A mitred timber trinket/pencil box with a swivelling lid. Students will use a mitre saw, measure parts to cut and use abrasives and power tools to finish. This project is aimed at introducing students to accuracy and making for a function and purpose.
