A Positive Choice

St Johns Cafe

St Johns Community Café

Students from Post 16 in Marshfields have a very exciting opportunity! They get to work in the community café in St Johns Church which is located in Cathedral Square in the middle of Peterborough. The café is open to the public every Wednesday morning from 10 o’clock to 12 o‘clock.

Working in the café gives the students a very valuable experience where they can learn important life skills. For example:

  • Decision making
  • Problem solving
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Working in a team
  • Having responsibility
  • Self awareness and empathy
  • Resilience
  • Money handling
  • Independent living skills

The jobs the students do include serving the cakes, serving hot drinks, using a till, talking to customers, washing up and clearing tables.

The cakes are all homemade and are provided by a baking team back at school, also from POST 16.

So if you are in town and in need of refreshments please pop in and see us for delicious cake and coffee. All are welcome.
