Year 9 Produce World Trip
On Wednesday 13th February Year 9 students visited the RBOrganics site at Yaxley as part of their English topic on Advertising Healthy Food Products.
Students were shown:
- the main factory where 40,000 tonnes of carrots are washed and packaged each year.
- the secondary factory where all sorts of vegetables are hand packaged for all the major supermarkets including artichokes, beetroot and chartenay carrots.
- a presentation about the reedbed system of water reclamation at the factory and a video about the growing of the vegetables on the company farms in Norfolk.
Students were enthusiastic and asked many questions of the RBOrganics staff. They commented on the packaging and marketing the company use and they were also treated to some interactive activities with Kevin the Carrot and his family and a competition alongside refreshments before they left. Finally - they got to look around a tractor the company use for working the vegetable fields.
The RBOrganics staff who showed the students around were happy all the students behaved really well and felt they were a credit to the school.
